What the ratings say
The Lucid Gravity posted a perfect 10.0, the first ever for an electric SUV, while the Lucid Air remains the range king at up to 512 miles. But the mainstream story of 2026 is Hyundai: the Ioniq 5 is U.S. News’ best electric SUV (9.4) and the sleek Ioniq 6 its best electric car overall. Both are in the Evlocity fleet.
The Tesla Model 3 still sets the benchmark for the money: 363 miles of range and the Supercharger network for under $40k. Value hunters should watch the Chevy Equinox EV (319 miles, $36,795) and the returning 2027 Bolt at $27,600.
Most 2026 EVs travel 200 to 350 miles per charge; premium models exceed 400. For Atlanta driving, averaging about 35 miles a day, any car on this list charges once or twice a week at most.
Reading reviews is research. Driving one is data.
Rent the Ioniq 5, Model 3, EV6 or EV9 for a weekend before you spend $40,000+ on one.
